Also discussed during the meeting was the progress on the construction and repaving the roads within the city. Ray Hicks with Schaumburg & Polk, Inc. (SPI) previously met with the council regarding the roads and offered the company’s expertise. SPI offers engineering services such as roadway planning and design and drainage improvements. Hicks stated that they monitored the flooding during the current rain and stated that it was important to test what was under the roadway. He laid out the steps the city should take to properly and correctly reconstruct the roads stating that first, a priority road plan should be developed naming highest priority roads with the highest traffic first. Secondly surveying, engineering design and a Geotech survey should be conducted. Lastly bidding, advertising and construction costs should be approached. No action was taken on this agenda item. Hicks agreed that this project should be a team effort with the engineering firm and Henderson County.
In conjunction with the road discussion, city council approved an interlocal cooperation agreement for labor and equipment use with Henderson County to assist with work on part of Veteran Lane and Arnold Hills Road. The City of Seven Points will supply the material for the projects.
